How to capitalise on Black Friday as a small business.

Friday 29th November 2019 will see virtual crowds of online shoppers surfing the internet for some worthy deals.

There will be a large increase in search volumes, online traffic and online sales. People are in the mindset to spend money and if you have a product or service to sell, this as an opportunity to gain customers, no matter how big or small your business is.

Here’s some tips to make the most of this sales opportunity:

▪️ If you haven’t started working on it – get a move on. There are just 10 days to go!

▪️ Decide what your offer is and have it set up in advance

▪️ Be selective of the products/services you promote – a blanket discount across everything just won’t cut it (unless you are Amazon)

▪️ Make it a ‘Godfather offer’ – something bigger and better than what you have offered before

▪️ Make sure it is time-bound to get people to act i.e. ends in 24 hours

▪️ Make the most of your bestsellers – you know they are popular so an offer on these will be well received

▪️ Reward your loyal customers – it costs 5 times more to acquire new customers than it does to retain existing ones

▪️ Show your appreciation to your existing customers with a specific offer that will make them feel valued and in turn encourage future loyalty

▪️ Plan your messaging and copy – make it succinct

▪️ Use good creative to promote your offers – you need to stand out in a very large crowd so scroll-stopping creative is a must

▪️ Do a quick test run on your website – make sure everything is working as it should be, site speed is good, payment processing is working etc. A bad onsite journey could result in an abandoned sale

▪️ Promote it in advance – send an email and use social media to tease your audience into the offer ‘mega black Friday deal coming soon’, creating some hype and excitement around the offer

▪️ Keep it simple – there is going to be a lot of messaging for online consumers to digest. Just highlight the key points and don’t over complicate it
