Running a Facebook page for your business is not always as easy as you might think. There are rules that you will need to follow, or risk being thrown into Facebook jail (kicked out and your page banned).
Here’s a few things that you should keep in mind if running page to promote your business:
1. Personal profiles are for people, you can’t run them as business pages. If you want to promote your business on Facebook, create a business page or community or risk a future ban.
2. You can’t have multiple profiles or impersonate others (or let others use your login to access your page). If you want others to access your page, set them up as an admin (on your business page/community).
3. Be authentic. Fake behaviour is a big rule break – using automated tools to do tasks that a person should do (BOTS) will get you and your page in Facebook jail.
4. Don’t post content that is considered to be objectionable or offensive. If it is not something you could comfortably say in a social situation, don’t post it on a social platform.
For types of content that Facebook deems as objectionable check the Community Standards guidelines.
Continuously violating Facebook’s policy will result in you/your page being blocked. Blocks can last for anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks (or indefinitely in serious cases). Getting a page unblocked is not an easy or quick process so avoid it at all costs!
Stick to the rules and you have the basis for a very successful page that can be used to generate leads and brand awareness for your business.
