Are you worried about managing your business during the Coronavirus outbreak? Understandably, there is a lot of focus right now on Coronavirus and you may be wondering how it is going to affect your business.

The truth is, nobody really knows but the best course of action right now is to try and not get too distracted and maintain (or ideally increase) your online presence.

Everywhere people look they are faced with news and opinions on Coronavirus. Many people are getting fed up with it, others can’t get enough of it, but all are suffering from ‘infobesity’ and a change of subject may well be a very welcome thing.

So, here are a few tips to weather the storm and manage your business during Coronavirus:

  • If it’s not relevant to your business, don’t post about it. Just because it’s a trending topic, does not mean you need to jump on the bandwagon. Remember, relevance is key at ALL times.
  • If it is relevant to your business, do post about it. Customers, and potential customers, will have questions to ask so it would be wise to take a proactive approach and make that information available through digital channels. Use your platforms to reiterate your commitment to the health and safety of customers and staff, provide links to the official Government web guidance, provide advice on handwashing and steps to take to prevent the spread of the virus. But remember – only do this if it is truly relevant to your business.
  • Be visible on your platforms and keep posting. There are more people online now than ever. Stand out in their news feeds by giving them posts that may be a welcome diversion.
  • It might not be the best time to sell, but it is a good time to build relationships, grow brand awareness, grow your audience and perhaps even your email lists.

Remember that if everything comes to a halt tomorrow, people will have more downtime and the one place you can guarantee they will be is on social media. The whole world is online right now, make sure you are too.

And don’t forget… wash your hands 😉
